Ms. Jennifer Paredes, Principal, Van Wig Elementary
Mrs. Paredes is no stranger to the Bassett community as she has spent her career educating the children of our community over the past 26 years. She has spent her career here in the district educating students at Sunkist Elementary School, Torch Middle School, and currently at Van Wig Elementary School. In addition, she has served as an administrative designee at various sites as well as the Summer School Principal at Bassett High School. Congratulations on your promotion!
Mr. Marco Leal, Principal, Edgewood Academy
Mr. Leal joins the Bassett Unified School District family and brings with him 20 years of experience as a teacher and site administrator. Mr. Leal has spent his last few years working as a Middle School Assistant Principal in the East Whittier City School District. He is no stranger to the Bassett community as he grew up in the city of La Puente and played youth sports on some of our campuses. Welcome to the Bassett Family Mr. Leal.
Gretchen Carrera, M. Ed., Director, Special Education
Ms. Gretchen comes to Bassett with 17 years of experience in Special Education. Most recently, Ms. Gretchen worked at Claremont Unified School District as a Program Specialist overseeing several Special Education programs throughout the district. In her educational tenure she has served as a Special Education teacher serving Mild to Moderate students as well as students with emotional disabilities.
