Bassett High Students to Compete at HOSA State Leadership Conference in Sacramento

LA PUENTE – Bassett High School senior and President of the HOSA Club Maria Gonzalez worked with her group of four students to create a Public Service Announcement on the topic of a Tobacco Free Generation to present at the 2019 California HOSA State Leadership Conference, which starts Thursday, March 28 at the Sacramento Convention Center.
“I am nervous but also excited to compete at the conference,” Gonzalez said. “While we are there we will be competing, but we will also be meeting professionals in the health industry and collaborating with other students, so, I am looking forward to it.”
Gonzalez wants to pursue a career as a registered nurse, and has applied to Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona and has been accepted to Cal State San Bernardino.
“I have never traveled outside of the La Puente area,” Gonzalez said. “Being a part of the HOSA Club continues to give me so many opportunities, and has been such a rewarding experience, it’s been great.”
